Intro to Long-Form Improv with Deana Ricks

Improv comedy is for everyone! Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of long-form improv - the same skills used by Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell to create comedy gold. Learn the power of active listening and the magic of “yes-and.” Create well-acted and hilarious characters using just your own experience and keen observation. Construct funny stories in the moment by building off of teammates’ ideas. Long-form improv techniques can be transferred to narrative storytelling, prose writing, and workplace situations such as giving presentations, conflict resolution and negotiation. No previous improv or acting experience is required. Attendees are asked to wear comfortable clothes/shoes as we will be moving frequently and actively participating in scenes.
