BUY THE BOOK: You can buy the book at the launch party. Additionally, pre-order for books can be done online here or through the link below.

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK
When you think of a veteran or service member what comes to mind? A hero? A victim? Oftentimes, books about veterans and the military are told in valorizing or victimizing terms. This is not one of those books. A Common Bond II is a project of the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP), a nonprofit that aims to cultivate community and growth with veterans, service members, military families, and caregivers through the arts. Creativity is born from community—and all of the stories and poems in this anthology are written by veterans, service members, and military family members who continue to participate in ASAP’s classes and workshops. Some stories are tragic, others are comedic. Some relate to the military, others have nothing to do with it. Yet collectively, these stories articulate a more diverse and dynamic narrative of the veteran, military, and human experience.

All The Feels is a mental health variety show featuring ten local performers - comics, musicians, poets, and storytellers (including ASAP alumni) - sharing experiences from managing life with depression and bipolar disorder and recovering from substance abuse, to surviving a suicide attempt and grieving through suicide. We’re bringing their too often untold stories into the spotlight. Together we can elevate and normalize the pervasiveness of mental health issues and enjoy a night of performance and connection.

"What's Next?" A Veterans Storytelling and Reading Open Mic

The Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) is excited to host “What’s Next? A Veterans Storytelling and Reading Open Mic” in partnership with Dog Tag Bakery. When faced with transitions and periods of uncertainty when the path forward is unclear, we often ask ourselves "what's next?" While these moments can be scary, they often become transformational. Please join us to hear from veteran storytellers and writers as they share the "what's next" moments in their lives - and share with us the very best of themselves.

When & Where: This show will take place at Dog Tag Bakery (3206 Grace St. NW, Washington, DC 20007) on Thursday, October 18 at 7 PM. Doors will open at 6:30 PM.

Tickets: Tickets for this show can be reserved now for $10, or can be purchased at the door for $15. All proceeds will go directly to support ASAP and its programs.
